Fishback
Overview
Perhaps the most exciting of GGL's diamond targets is The Big Hole, a very large steep-walled depression in Awry Lake, on the 100% GGL-owned Fishback claim area. We believe this property has the potential to host a diamondiferous kimberlite pipe or pipes.
The Fishback property, more than 13,000 acres covering an area 11 km x 12 km, is 100% GGL-owned.
Located approximately 60 km northwest of Yellowknife, the Fishback property is only 30 km from the paved all weather Yellowknife Highway. A power line right-of-way passes through the south portion of the property.
Claims have been held in the area since a 1994 regional exploration program began. Since that time, exploration efforts have included a fixed-wing airborne magnetic survey, lake sediment sampling, soil sampling, ground gravity and electro-magnetic surveys, and drilling.
The largest kimberlite found to date in the southwest Slave Craton is the 20+ hectare-Drybones Bay kimberlite.
